Ajit Subramaniam is a biological oceanographer who uses bio-optics and remote sensing to study the ocean. He has been interested in mapping the Amazon River plume in order to understand the spatial extent of its influence on the ocean.  He will be making bio-optical measurements including remote sensing reflectance during the field work in the Amazon River.  He will also try to estimate the variability sediment flux leaving the river mouth into the shelf.
