We Blogged It!
Just received word from Jeff Richey and the river team. They are currently in the lower reach of the Amazon River sampling for ROCA. Jeff says: "Great stuff! Went extremely well. Water surprisingly different than upstream. Whole process extremely viable. Noting further that this is most difficult time of year to sample with strong winds producing waves 4-5’ and more (not an issue on Knorr, serious issue on Tricia)"
Question of the Day
- Do the bacteria in the water make us sick?
Only a few of them. Bacteria are in every habitat on Earth, growing in soil, hot springs, radioactive waste, water, as well as in organic matter and the live bodies of plants and animals. Bacteria recycle nutrients, with many steps in nutrient cycles depending on these organisms, such as nitrogen fixation.
