We Blogged It!
Have you ever watched an ant mound as the workers go back and forth carrying little parcels on their backs? That’s what the deck and labs onboard the RV Knorr looked like today. Except instead of ants, it was members of the research team and crew ; instead of little parcels there were what seemed like an endless quantity of plastic storage tubs, boxes, and equipment. What couldn’t be moved by hand was lifted by crane!

It was a long, productive day. Now the work begins to set up all the equipment and materials that were in all those boxes :)

Bacteria recycle nutrients, with many steps in nutrient cycles depending on these organisms, such as nitrogen fixation.
